Do It Yourself: How To Build Solar Panels In Your Own Home
It is time that we realize the need to use environmentally generated energy than fuel generated energy. This we can do in our own little way at home to cut down on power bills, hence valuable money as well as do something to save the planet. The nice thing of getting this done is that it is a learning experience for a person and also for an entire family too. Start creating your solar powered battery to yoke the power of the sun, a trip to the hardware shop is required. Learn how to build solar panels.
The good thing about doing this is it can be a fun exercise for an individual and of course, for the entire family as well. To get started on making your cell to harness the energy from the sun to power your home, you will need to make a visit to the hardware store.
Once there, buy half a square foot of a sheet of copper flashing, an electric stove, a large mouth bottle, glass or plastic (5 litre mineral jar), a sensitive micro-ammeter, few table spoons of table salt, tap water, sand paper or wire brush on an electric drill, metal shears and three alligator clip leads.
First thing, wash hands to keep clean and dry. Cut a piece of the copper sheeting to the size of the diameter of the electric stove. Now, wash copper sheet with soap to rid it of any oil. With sand paper, clean the sheet really well.
Meanwhile, get the stove started and raise temperature to high. Place the copper sheet on top of it. You will see the sheet changing colors from orange to purple to red and then pink; once it heats further, the colors will go and now the sheet will go dark. Roast the sheet for about half hour.
As soon as it cools down entirely, it should be held under a tap of running water to allow the flakes to fall off. This has to be done with ease and a gentle touch so as not to hurt the SOLAR PANEL.
Now, cut another piece of the copper sheet keeping the same size at the first one. Place the two in the bottle whose neck is cut. The sheets should not come in contact with each other. The portion of the sheet that faced up while being heated on the stove must be kept facing outward in the bottle.
Now, attach your clip leads, one to the new copper plate, and one to the COOKED one. The clean sheet should be attached to the positive side of the meter and the cooked one to the negative.
Stir many table spoons of salt into hot tap water and ensure it dissolves entirely. Empty this mixture into the bottle while ensuring that the clip heads remain dry. Allow the sheets to be above water for up to an inch. Your first homemade solar battery is complete!
To think it would light up bulbs and other electrical appliances would be foolish. This power box can produce only 50 micro amps at 0.25 volts. One will need hundreds of these to power an entire home which would be a major expenditure.
